Transition close on race-day
The only way to access the swim start staging area is by crossing the bike and run courses. Therefore, transition will close at 7:00 a.m. for all athletes so that they do not interfere with the bike and run courses when heading to the swim start. Athletes and spectators can sit on the grass at the Auditorium Shores event lawn. Toilets and water will be available at that location.
Bike check-out will begin at approximately 11:30 a.m when all bikes are off the course. Athletes will have to cross the run course to enter and exit transition so please be prepared to wait.
Packet pickup will be held on Sunday, May 25 during the Life Time Tri CapTex Health & Fitness Expo at the Palmer Events Center from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Each participant or member of a relay team will have to provide a photo ID and valid USAT membership card (or one-day receipt) at packet pickup. Parents/guardians must accompany minors to packet pickup in order to sign their USAT waiver form.
Each member of the relay team must pick up their own packets. Team members will need to show ID and USAT membership card. The whole team does not need to come and pick up their packets together.
Swimmers will receive timing chip, bikers will receive bike and helmet number and runners will receive race bib. Each member of the relay will receive a wristband. Biker will be the only one that has the race bib number on it.
If you are not a current USAT member, you can register online at usatriathlon.org. One-day memberships are only valid for the single event for which they were purchased. Life Time Tri CapTex is sanctioned by USA Triathlon. All rules and regulations of USA Triathlon will be strictly enforced.
International distance includes four laps, sprint distance is two laps and the First Tri is one and done. Back to T2 and then out on the run, which follows the south side of Lady Bird Lake then crosses the Ann Richards Bridge, famous for the largest urban bat colony in the U.S., with millions of bats taking to the skies from its superstructure at dusk. International distance athletes complete two laps of the run course, and everyone finishes at the Palmer Events Center to a jammin’ finish and post-race festival.
Relay transition area
A designated relay area will be available near the run out area of the transition. Relay teams will use this area for both transitions. Swimmers will meet their biker in the pen. Biker will run to their designated bike rack, put on the timing chip and exit. Upon return, biker will rack their bike and meet their runner in the relay pen. Runner will exit to complete the race.

Open Elite Amateur – International Distance Only
Athletes wishing to compete in the Open Elite Amateur Division must have competed in an USAT Sanction International Triathlon within the last 12 months and with overall times of 2 hr 10 minutes for men and 2 hr 20 minutes for women. Athletes in the Open Elite Amateur Division removes them from being eligible for age group awards.
Collegiate Division – International Distance Only
Athletes competing in the Collegiate Division must be currently enrolled in a U.S. university or junior college and will be required to present a current student ID at packet pickup.
Military Division – International Distance Only
Athletes competing in the Military Division must either currently be serving in active duty or as an active member of the Military Reserves and will be required to present a current military ID at packet pickup.
First Responders Division – International Distance Only
Athletes competing in the First Responders Division must be currently employed as a law enforcement officer, a firefighter, County EMS and EMT or a volunteer firefighter and will be required to present a current supporting ID at packet pickup.
PC Open – Sprint Course Only
PC Open Division is available to athletes with a medically verified physical, visual, or neurological impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities.

We're looking forward to seeing you at Life Time Tri CapTex! As in past years, the international distance race will remain “draft-free” and the pros will swim, bike and run on the same course as the Age Group athletes. The weekend is filled with plenty of opportunities for self-promotion.
Pro Triathlete Qualifications
To race in the professional division at Life Time Tri CapTex, you must meet one of the following criteria:
The competition at Life Time Tri CapTex is sanctioned by USA Triathlon. Membership in USAT or a USAT single-event permit is required for participation in the event. You will be required to show your USAT/pro membership card at packet pickup. Permits will not be available for purchase at the event.
Awards will be given to the top 3 overall male and female, Military, Collegiate and First Responders, each age group, Athena, Clydesdale winner and each relay division winner. Second and third place in each age group, special divisions and relay teams will receive awards. All finishers will receive a medal and water bottle.

The Finish Festival — Palmer Events Center
Monday, May 26, 7:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
Right in the middle of all of the race day action. Athletes and spectators pack this area before, during and after the race. A great place for merchandise and refreshment/food vendors. We expected close to 15,000 people at the Finish Festival in 2013.

Booth space is on a first come, first serve basis. Preferred locations can be requested for the Palmer Events Center. Each indoor booth will be supplied with 3’ high side drape, 8’ high back drape, one wastebasket, two folding chairs, one folding table, and an identification sign. Each outdoor booth will be supplied with one folding table, two folding chairs, and an identification sign. The exhibitor is responsible for their own 10’x10’ tent. Larger tents can be provided for an additional fee.
Exhibitors are expected to have personnel attending their booths at all times during the expo hours. Once payment is received, an Exhibitor Services Kit that will include information and costs for electricity, phones and other furnishings will be e-mailed to you.
